Michael Beutler

I see this piece by Michael Beutler as a temporary space, as it can be put up quickly and taken down when the use has finished. I like the use of the pale coral colours. It creates a very girly or an almost romantic atmosphere. The use of tattered fabrics is beautiful as it creates character and the colours give a very eye catching glow to the room. The fabrics alone wouldn't have been as beautiful as they look together. The patchwork effect creates a tent like look, almost like it is a den or a secret hideout. I like the idea of the tent look, as it creates a very magical atmosphere.

Ernesto Neto

Ernesto Neto's use of muted, natural colours is very interesting as the neutral, pastel colours go with the artwork as bold colours would have looked too solid. His work reminds me of  playgrounds or somewhere from a dream or a fantasy film.
This piece by Neto reminds me of plants or mushrooms, but without colour. This looks like a room that is really comfortable , with squishy sitting bags,a perfect place to sit and read.

I find this piece very intriguing, it looks like there are people standing, crowding the place all around. The curvy shapes and the pale yellow create an elegance. It also creates a maze like route to follow, but with tall towering walls that would lean or tower above the person. I think it would be like standing inside a flower.
This piece reminds me of what inside the body and heart would look like, with wallls stretched out. The coral colour also goes perfectly with the idea the heart and body.
Ernesto Neto creates a completely different world with softness and a feeling of happiness.
This piece reminds me of a maze. When we're young we visit fairgrounds with mazes where we can climb a wall of ropes or through walls to find our way out. This piece gives me the same impression. The ideas and objects that I link with Ernesto Neto's work are clowns, sweets, balloons, candy floss, marshmellows and flowers.

Do Ho Suh

Do Ho Suh's 'fallen star' is a brilliant piece. i am fascinated by this piece as it is visually interesting. There is so much going on yet the focus falls onto the small wooden house.  I think fallen star is portraying the way we in a modern society are upgrading to bigger things for example town houses instead of little wood cottages. Yet we still bring something from the rural way of life back into towns and cities.

' staircase' is really beautiful .Just looking at it feels like it dosn't belong in this world. It is so elegant and soft looking. The material it is made from looks like it is a silk or a netting. The staircase seems to be leading nowhere and the steps look really fragile. To me they seem very dreamlike and magical.

This fence made of golden people is beautiful and creates a very powerful presence. I think it represents the world. It also gets you thinking about the meaning as does all of Do Ho Suh's work.
I find this piece very interesting as the shiny shoes and black suit show power, whereas the tiny people holding up the glass floor are all the alike, struggling to hold the floor beneath the man in a suit. I think this is a very political piece and shows the difference between the classes.
