Tara Donovan

Tara Donovans work is brilliant. I find it very elegant and you can see the careful planning that went into the work.To create both these pieces Tara Donovan has used fishing wire, to create this natural looking vegetation or plant look. I find it very creative and very inspiring as I want to focus on nature and trees and plants.

Tara Donovan uses a variety of textures to create her artwork. She uses materials from everyday life such as polystyrene cups, straws, fishing wire and paper.
I think this piece has a very 'heavenly' theme. It makes you feel that you would expect to see it in heaven or somewhere pure like that. It also looks like billowing clouds, but the sculpture is made from polystyrene cups.

I love this room and it's design! It is a piece by Tara Donovan. She has a very girly, yet very serious feel to her work. Tara Donovan uses texture in her work, and this is my favourite piece. It looks like something out of a fairytale story.

The texture is visible on this piece. Tara Donovan has used tar paper and has resulted in a fanastic piece. It looks like it  is an aerial view of mountains or terraces in mountains. It has a very surreal look to it.

Mark Dion

Mark Dions work is just brilliant. To me it feels like a storybook come to life. To me it feels  like it is someones imagination spilling. The way it is portrayed is very interesting. The dolphin laying dead on the sand makes you feel really sad and upset as it is such a powerful image, but pouring out of the dolphins cut from its belly are personalised human items. I think this shows what humans are capable of or the fact that this dolphin also had a life. The dolphin has a background cover of black, which could symbolise mourning. I think that this piece is aimed at the poachers and people who feel it is okay to take a life just because it is an animal.

This is my favourite piece! This piece by Mark Dion has the feel of nature yet it is being taken over by humanity and  personal belongings, such as books, bags, frames and baskets etc...It looks as though the mess on the floor symbolises roots and therefore are feeding the tree to grow. I think it is very interesting how the branches are used and put together. I t also looks like a tree house, but with everything on the outside and no roof. The objects used represent the past , such as books, an old bag, a few tools etc. It also has a very personal touch with the personalised picture frames on the tree trunk.
The tree looks like soimething out of a fantasy film, like Narnia or Alice in Wonderland. I love the fantasy and the fun side to it and I want to create the magical atmosphere in my work too!
